I READ with interest the article about the new MP for North West Durham, Laura Pidcock (Echo, June 21).
I found her views and honesty very refreshing.
Her observations on the House of Commons hit the nail right on the head, although I would call it an expensive tax-payer funded Old Boys’ Country Club, mainly for unemployable members who when ejected by the voters cannot wait to get back into it at the earliest opportunity.
Look at Vince Cable who at 74 must need the club to give his life meaning.
How sad. I can only hope that Laura does not get nobbled by the system and can maintain her North-East outlook and concern for her constituents.
