I AM sure 99 per cent of us agree with Pete Winstanley's claim that he, as an individual, should be free to criticise the UK while remaining here (HAS, June 11).
But this isn't the point. The point is that out of the large numbers who advocate multiculturalism, precious few migrate to a country that resembles the UK they are bestowing on their grandchildren: an essentially non Anglo-Saxon and probably Islamic UK. In contrast (as I pointed out in HAS, May 25) large numbers of sun worshippers migrate to where the sun shines all day.
So what is going on? I suspect that with the collapse of Christianity in the UK, political correctness (of which multiculturalism is a part) has taken its place. Like any religion, political correctness involves sermonising, moralising, and the use of long-winded, multisyllabic jargon such as "multiculturalism", or "differentlyabled"
instead of "disabled".
An American religious periodical recently published an article entitled Multiculturalism, England's Other State Religion. And in common with other religions, multiculturalism's adherents, eg, Pete Winstanley, often don't practise what they preach.
