YOUR story, "Council plans are undemocratic'" (Echo, Apr 2), made it clear that the consultation to take place by the Government over the setting up of one large unit of local government, and the scrapping of ones we now know well, will not extend to the very people who pay for council services.
I was nonplussed to read it, so I wrote to the Government minister concerned, expressing my surprise at this undemocratic action and asking her to think again and do the decent "British" thing.
If anyone else wishes to express their views, the address is: The Minister for Communities and Local Government, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.
