AFTER reading the letters in Hear All Sides about the Bevin Boys getting a medal from the Government for Wartime Service after years of waiting for recognition, I have just received my Bevin Boys Newsletter. It tells me we are not getting a medal but a lapel badge, and it will be a number of months before it's dished out.
I would like to thank all who sent in letters of support. We even got one from a German former Prisoner of War.
The sad news is that if any ex- Bevin Boy should pop his clogs before these badges are dished out, his family will not be given the badge. If this isn't petty on the part of our Government, I don't know what is.
