AS a gas consumer resident in Crook, I feel that the gas company is trying to shortchange the people affected by the recent gas supply interruption (Echo, Mar 14).
I was offered compensation for three days loss of supply when in fact it was off from Monday afternoon until 4.20pm on Friday.
It's obvious that the gas company will not be paying this compensation itself as it will be claiming from the insurance held by the digger who ruptured the gas mains.
If the company can get away with paying the gas users one day less compensation than they are due, it stands to pocket a very large amount of money.
B Coote, Crook.
