I HAVE called for resurfacing work on the main footpath ruinning from Ox Close School to the Ash Tree pub, in Spennymoor.
This path is a main thoroughfare which runs through the large Greenways area, en route to the School and the shops.
I raised the point that part of the area adjacent to Ox Close School/Mayfields had disintegrated due to severe frost, ice and snow at a Greenways Residents meeting and a section was re-surfaced a few years ago. Another section was done two years ago.
I have called for Durham County Highways to do the remainder to a high standard and have drawn attention to the small incline which leads onto the school, which requires a non-skid surface as many children slip on this path during icy weather.
The residents of this area have paid vast sums of money in Council Tax during recent years and this path deserves some priority.
I would be interested to know if it is included in the 2015/16 highways works programme.
