GEOFF CARR’S letter (HAS, Aug 14) prompted me to delve deeper into the works of Tracey Emin, whom he describes as “a truly gifted artist”.
Sure enough, he’s spot on. She is indeed a talented gifted artist.
So isn’t it a shame that the majority of us only know her for the nauseating pieces that have been so sensationalised over the years. This has kept many, including me, away from exhibitions with any connection to her, mainly for health reasons.
Obviously my lack of attendance hasn’t affected her wealth or adoration by her more knowledgeable followers like Geoff.
So the next time I get the chance I shall be first in the queue with my Tetanus jabs topped up and face mask at the ready, just in case.
It is sad, though, that she had to air her dirty washing in public before really being recognised.
John Cumberland, Rushyford.
