I WAS interested in the article about the decision to discontinue the trolley service at the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton, written by Emily Flanagan (Echo, Apr 6).
I bought the trolley many years ago at an auction house in Thirsk and members of the Thornton-Le-Beans WI provided a daily service for many years selling tea and coffee to patients in the old wooden huts (since demolished).
We carefully cleaned the trolley before and after use and it became an old well-loved useful object. It helped many thirsty patients.
Several months ago I saw the trolley in action at the hospital and I told the lady in charge about its history.
Mary Scurfield, Thornton-le-Beans.
