BEN ORD (HAS, Jan 26) made reference to keeping snowy paths clear in Spennymoor and not seeing any council workmen in the town doing this work.
I have seen workers clearing the paths in Spennymoor high street every morning from 8am.
I approached two of these men to ask if they could clear the mounds of snow accumulated on the main pathway in the high street, the snow having fallen overnight from the roofs of buildings and a pathway having been cleared by them only the day before.
They were only too willing to help.
They should be congratulated not criticised.
I agree that there should be more done on side roads, housing estates, car parks and around school premises, and would ask for more salt bins to be placed in strategic positions and filled on a regular basis.
Councillor Liz Maddison, Spennymoor Town Council.
