THE Scottish National Party’s dream of an independent Scotland is now very much in tatters because if the Scots were daft enough to leave the UK they now have no right to EU membership to fall back upon.
Who would then fund their lavish lifestyle once the oil runs out in around ten years’ time?
It is also worth noting that new members, which Scotland may hope to be, need to join the EU Eurozone and change to the dodgy euro currency. Would any newly-independent Scotland be offered a referendum by the SNP on joining this zone, and, if so, would the nationalists win?
As an English Unionist, I have never doubted that my fellow Scottish Unionists would vote to stay in the UK.
However, this final nail in the independence coffin has now made the result a forgone conclusion. Long live the union!
