ALL too many parents know how it feels when their offspring passes their driving tests.

Elation and pride at their success soon gives way to dread and fear when it is realised they are going to take the car out – alone.

That is where Barely Legal Drivers comes in – it sets teens loose in the family car, fitted with cameras (which they believe are for filming a slice-of-life documentary).

However, they are unaware that their parents and a former police traffic officer can see their every move. Since statistics show that Britain’s young motorists are among the most dangerous in Europe, this should be an enlightening experience.

Sure enough, in the first episode, young Tommy’s behaviour both in and out of the vehicle is a cause for concern, leading his father to rethink their relationship.

Then there is Chantelle’s road rage which, along with her habit of using the phone while driving, makes for uncomfortable viewing.
