HE’S solved crimes alongside Patricia Routledge in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, been a hobbit in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and diced with death (and lost) in Lost. How any of those roles qualifies Dominic Monaghan to have a stab at becoming the next David Attenborough is anybody’s guess, but here he is, getting knee-deep in all manner of creepy crawlies in Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan.
But, it seems, the actor is a self-confessed “bug-nut”, who keeps a menagerie of insects, snakes and reptiles at his home in Los Angeles. Each episode of the eightpart series follows Dominic as he travels the globe in search of weird and wonderful – as well as deadly – creatures.
The opener sees him in the wilds of Venezuela, searching for a cave said to be the home of the world’s largest centipede, an aggressive, venomous carnivore capable of snatching bats right out of the air.
