OLYMPIANS are set to inspire more than 1,000 youngsters at the Tees Valley School Games this month.
Pupils from schools across the Tees Valley will be joined by former Olympians Craig Heap and Amanda Coulson during two days of competition at the annual School Games on June 21 and 23.
The Games are the culmination of intra-school and inter-school competitions that have taken place in the districts across the Tees Valley during the 2015-16 academic year.
They are designed to enable every school and child to participate in competitive sport, including meaningful opportunities for disabled youngsters.
The 2016 Rio Games provides a particular inspiration as the Games will feature a torch relay using a 2012 Olympic torch and a carnival-style ‘Rio’ warm up.
