KARSTEISS EXHIBITION: Artist Makus Karsteiss’ exhibition runs at mima in Middlesbrough until April 4.
The ceramic sculptures and sound installation was developed by the German artist during his year-long tenure as Lipman Artist in Residence at Newcastle University’s Fine Art department. He uses ancient ceramic techniques for his work.
MINING EXHIBITION: The North-East’s mining heritage will be marked in a new Hartlepool exhibition by artists who were once miners themselves.

The exhibition follows in the tradition of the Pitmen Painters – the group of Ashington miners who used art to record their experiences between the 1930s and 1980s.
The exhibition will be open Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.
