POLICE are warning that prescription drugs may be offered for sale following a burglary at a pharmacy in East Cleveland last night (Sunday, January 19).
Officers from Cleveland Police were called to reports of a break-in at the Co-op Pharmacy on the High Street, Brotton, just before 8.15pm last night.
Staff reported that several prescriptions which had been prepared for today had been taken in the burglary.
At this stage police said the exact amount and type of medication could not be clarified, but staff confirmed that Diazepam was among the drugs taken and expressed concern this could prove “extremely harmful” in the wrong hands.
Anyone who has information on the burglary or who may have been offered these drugs for sale is asked to contact Cleveland Police immediately on 101. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
