LIFEBOAT crews came to the rescue of a fisherman after he suffered an apparent seizure off the coast of Hartlepool in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Hartlepool RNLI went to help the man, who was aboard a Scottish fishing boat five miles off the coast, at about 3.30am.
The RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat, Betty Hunchbatch, was launched at 3am and at 3.30am two Hartlepool RNLI volunteers went onboard the vessel and assessed the ill crewmember.
Once they had administered first aid, given him oxygen and made him stable he was helped on to the lifeboat and taken to Teesport, where a waiting ambulance took him to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
