John Nellis is swapping football videos for the dance floor after joining the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Northern Irish social media personality was announced as a contestant in August 2026.
His career began in aviation before he moved into online entertainment, and he has been a full-time content creator in 2022.

Who is John Nellis?
John Nellis is a YouTuber and social media personality from Northern Ireland.
He set up his YouTube account in 2019, while still working as an air traffic controller, as he wanted a hobby to fill his time away from work.
His interest in the sport began after he watched the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and he has since collected Premier League stickers and played fantasy football.
His channels mainly feature football-related videos.
Nellis’ channels grew during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and he now has more than 15 million YouTube subscribers and about two million TikTok followers.
Across all social media platforms, he has more than 20 million followers.
His videos have included meetings with major footballers such as Kylian Mbappé, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland.
Nellis won Sports Creator of the Year at the TikTok Awards UK & Ireland in December 2024.
He also played for England in the Sidemen Eleven All Stars match against France in May 2026.

What has John Nellis said about being on Strictly Come Dancing?
The social media star was announced as a contestant on the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
He said: "I'm still in disbelief that I've been selected for Strictly and, if I'm honest, I'm a little nervous as I've never danced before!"
"It's such an incredible opportunity, and I'm going to throw myself into every moment."
"I can't wait to meet everyone, learn a new skill and, hopefully, be much better at family parties by the end of it!"

When does Strictly Come Dancing start?
Strictly Come Dancing’s first episode will air on Saturday, September 19.
Viewers can tune in to see the 2026 launch show from 7.25pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
The live shows start on Saturday, September 26 and will air every Saturday until December 19 – the final weekend before Christmas.
