Black mould can be an annoying and persistent problem in many homes across the UK.
In winter, the issue can be at its worst, with chilly weather and poor insulation often resulting in black mould around window frames and on walls.
Mould can be a tricky thing to remove without a lot of effort, but there is a simpler way to get rid of the unsightly stains.
To help you solve your black mould problem, insulation specialist Chad Bragg at SuperFOIL has shared a 57p cleaning hack to help homeowners out.
What causes mould?
Black mould is often a problem during winter due to condensation created by higher indoor temperatures and lower outdoor temperatures.
The condensation creates dampness when warm air meets cold surfaces, leading to a layer of water droplets.
Condensation and water create an environment for mould to grow, and when left unaddressed, it can lead to black mould growing inside homes.
Mould tends to grow on walls and around windows, but can also be found in attics where damp conditions are likely.

If mould is left untreated, it could be costly for homeowners and even cause serious health hazards.
The 57p cleaning hack that removes black mould
Many may think that removing black mould can be a costly problem to fix; however, specialist Chad Bragg has shared how one 57p item can solve the issue.
White vinegar can be sprayed directly onto small patches of mould and left for an hour before wiping it all away.

The natural acidity of vinegar means it will kill mould spores and make it harder for new mould to grow, keeping the house free of black spots and musty odours.
Discussing how black mould can harm homes, Bragg shared: "Once an area is cleaned, it’s important to keep an eye out for any signs of regrowth, as there may be other factors, such as poor insulation, that led to the issue in the first place.
"Don’t forget to also check for mould growing in hidden areas, such as behind furniture or insulation in the attic, where it can easily fester unnoticed."
