Big Brother viewers have expressed their confusion over a row among housemates that was caused by a 'feminist' comment.

In the third week of ITV's reboot of the reality show housemates were split into two 'ant colonies' as part of their shopping task.

The two colonies are competing to take control of the shopping budget for the week, going up against each other in various tasks.

In a test of strength, the two 'Queens' of the colonies were asked to pick three of their group to hold up big plastic items of food for as long as they could.

Chanelle, who was queen of the Orange Colony, picked three men for the task which caused Trish from the Blue Colony to joke that there were no women picked for it.

Afterwards, Chanelle was confused by this and the comment caused a lot of debate among the housemates.

Big Brother viewers confused by housemate reaction to comment

Most Big Brother viewers were surprised by how the Orange Team took the comment so seriously with one person posting on X (formerly known as Twitter): "It was a joke? why is Chanelle taking it seriously?"

Another wrote: "I feel like the blue team are being competitive in a fun teasy way but orange team are super serious."

Meanwhile, one person shared: "LMAOOO?! there’s no way these lot are angry about those jokes?"

One person joked: "a win for feminism I think".
