Matt Hancock has faced his 'biggest fear' as the MP took on his sixth I'm A Celeb challenge in a row.

The former Health Secretary took on snakes and critters in an underground pit after the public voted for him to do Monday's bushtucker trial.

The West Suffolk MP has to lie on his back in the Deserted Down Under as he tried to unlock stars hidden away in "hell holes" on either side of him.

The challenge, which marks his sixth trial since he controversially entered the Australian jungle, required him to find 11 stars in 11 minutes.

The politician was far from alone during the task as he has to navigate the pit alongside spiders, cockroaches as well as his biggest fear - snakes.

Speaking to the ITV show's presenters Ant and Dec, Mr Hancock said: “I’m just trying to talk about them (the snakes) as if they’re completely normal.”

Later on in the trial, Hancock got a fright and shouted: “Something’s going up my leg. It’s inside my shorts.”

It is not the first time that the MP has faced his biggest fear on I'm A Celeb.

The political figure has to take on snakes in his previous trial House of Horrors, where a snake attempted to strike him at eye level.

Around four minutes into Monday's challenge,  Hancock said: “I can’t get this done.”

Hancock started to become visibly frustrated with himself during certain parts of the task.

At one point the lights even went out and the politican was left to complete the challenge in the dark.

In the end, Hancock secured seven out of a possible 11 stars.

Reflecting on his experience of the Bushtucker trial, Hancock said: “I just managed to keep really calm. I had to be gentle with them, but they were fine.”

He added: “My biggest fear [was snakes]. I kind of feel like I’ve faced that. I’ve conquered a fear.”

Despite conquering his fear, Hancock seemed disappointed with himself.

Commenting on the number of stars he managed to secure: “It’s not 11 is it? Fine for dinner, haven’t hit it out of the park.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Tuesday, November 15 ITV at 9.15 pm.
