YouTube users were reporting issues with the video streaming site on Tuesday evening.

Streamers were left unable to navigate the site, see the sidebar or watch their favourite videos on their TVs.

According to Down Detector, issues started just after 8 pm with people complaining that they couldn't get the app or website to load.

Problems with the social media site were recorded across the UK on Down Detector including London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Of the problems reported, 42% related to problems with the app while 33% related to problems with the website.

A further 25% of problems were linked to Youtube's video streaming.

According to the heat map, the worst affected areas are Edinburgh and London.

Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day.

Users have been taking to social media to express their frustration. 

One person wrote on Twitter:" Anyone else unable to switch @YouTube accounts or just me????."

While another added: "YOUTUBE BROKE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WORKOUT."

With a third user posting: "Yo @YouTube, your app is broken. You can’t swap accounts, and the sidebar on the left is gone, please fix this."
