Apple will begin a scheme where customers can carry out repairs on their own devices with access to genuine Apple parts and tools.
The Self Service Repair scheme will start next year in the US but will quickly move to other countries in 2022, with parts available for iPhone 12 and 13 ranges.
The brand said the new scheme will allow those comfortable with completing repairs to do so with the offer of repair parts for display, battery, and camera.
Customers will be able to order the parts through the online store and those who return used parts for recycling will receive a credit towards their purchase.
The scheme will start in 2022. (PA)
The online store will offer over 200 individual tools and parts that IOS users can purchase.
Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams said: “In the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to Apple genuine parts, tools, and training, and now we’re providing an option for those who wish to complete their own repairs.”
Apple has also said the scheme is aimed at those who have the knowledge and experience to repair electronics.
