A truck suspected to be involved in a fly-tipping incident has been seized by Middlesbrough council as part of a town-wide crackdown.

The Ford Transit truck was seized on March 31, after Middlesbrough Council were informed of the incident that took place in the Netherfields Crescent area of town ten days earlier.

The truck, registration number DN53 GSO, was seized on Lambton Road by the council and will now be scrapped if no owner comes forward.

Dale Metcalfe, Middlesbrough Council’s Operational Community Safety Manager, said: “We don’t tolerate fly-tipping and we’re going after those responsible.

“It’s selfish, completely unnecessary and blights communities and we’re determined to stamp it out.

“This is just the latest example of a vehicle heading for the crusher after being involved in this unacceptable crime.”

The council are now urging any members of the public with information to reach out via email on evidence@middlesbrough.gov.uk, or call the Contact Centre at 01642 726001 quoting reference number 596058.
