RESIDENTS are being asked for their ideas to improve land next to the Lustrum Beck when flood defences are built early next year.

About £85,000 will be spent on work in Stockton, which includes installing a flap on a culvert, raising the height of flood walls and flood banks, and creating ponds to store flood water.

Sue Goodman, project manager for the Environment Agency, said: "We are keen to include some extra improvements along this half-mile stretch of the Lustrum Beck, and we are looking for local people who use the site or live nearby to help decide what these should be."

The agency is holding workshops for residents on Tuesday, November 29, and Monday, December 12, both at 10am.
