A TALENTED young designer is to craft her creative concepts in the North-East after landing a prestigious internship in the region.

Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) student Emma Tweddle, 21, is to start a one-year placement with Tw ist Design, Middlesbrough.

Miss Tweddle, of Saltburn, a graduate of CCAD's foundation degree graphic design course, said: "This is an amazing opportunity that I never expected to happen.

"It was really important for me to try and find work in the region after graduating, which can sometimes be very difficult to do, and this will give me the chance to showcase my creative skills and get some real world experience on my own doorstep."

Miss Tweddle also has plans to start her own design company, Brainbox Studios, with fellow graphics graduate Vicky Watson.

"Vicky and I were friends before we started at CCAD, " said Emma. "We work really well together and both wanted to start up a design business so we pooled our resources and came up with Brainbox."

The design duo are planning to run Brainbox from their homes, in Saltburn and Guisborough, before looking for office space in the Teesside area.

Miss Watson, 24, of Guisborough, said: "It's a really exciting step setting up your own company with the advantage that we can do what we want and express our own ideas.

"Once we are established, we want to act as a hub for other young artists and it would be great to work with other CCAD graduates in the future to keep as much artistic talent in the region.
