A MOUNTAIN rescue team has responded to two call-outs this week – its first in more than two months.

On Thursday, Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist the North East Ambulance Service in helping a 79-year-old woman, who had injured herself while walking with family in an area to the west of Brotton, near Saltburn.

She stumbled and fell, injuring her lower back and leg.

She was treated at the scene and members of the mountain rescue team carried her to the waiting ambulance, where she received further treatment. The two-hour incident involved 17 volunteers, as well as two others working remotely.

On Wednesday, they assisted in the rescue of a 15-year old boy who had fallen in woodland near Guisborough and broken his leg.
