ITEMS seized during a drugs raid on a cannabis farm have been donated to a primary school for its garden.

The items, which include bags of soil, plant pots and garden canes, were donated to West Park Primary School in Hartlepool, for use in its school garden.

Hartlepool Community Safety team donated the items on Tuesday.

The had been seized by police at the scene of a cannabis farm which was discovered in the town on Wednesday, January 2.

Once the farm was dismantled and the drugs taken away for disposal a large amount of equipment was left over which was seized to prevent it being used to set up a new farm.

Inspector Darren Bainbridge said: “It seemed only fitting that this equipment be put to use in the local community and West Park Primary School was suggested due to its status as an eco school.

“The caretaker, Mr Bell, was on hand to receive the items and help unload them from the van. We hope that the children enjoy learning about the garden and we’re pleased that items seized from criminality can now be put to good use.”

Anyone with information regarding drugs activity can contact police on 101.
