INSPECTORS have praised an improving school’s efforts to provide a first-class learning environment for children.

The new-look Dormanstown Primary School opened its doors last year after a new £4.75m building was created to accommodate its 251 pupils.

And both pupils and staff are celebrating this week after education watchdog Ofsted declared it to be ‘good’ in a new report.

It was a step up on the ‘satisfactory’ rating reported during the previous inspection, with Ofsted praising many aspects of school life.

The report said the school, on South Avenue, was a welcoming place, where “relationships are strong, care and support excellent, so pupils are keen to learn and eager to come to school”.

Headteacher Anne Johnson said: “We are thrilled with the progress the school has made and extremely pleased that this has been recognised by Ofsted. This positive report is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, pupils, governors and everybody connected with the school community.”
