A TEAM of enthusiastic volunteers have worked together to transform their local football club.
Thornaby FC, which competes in Northern League Division Two, desperately needed refurbishment to ensure it met the standards set by the league.
Volunteers from the local community, keen to help the team preserve its status, came together to revamp the club, repainting club cabins in team colours as well as transforming the dugouts, changing rooms, clubhouse ,cafe and hospitality room.
All paint was donated by Dulux Decorator Centres as part of their Colouring the Community Scheme which aims to help community groups and charities refurbish and restore their premises.
Club secretary Trevor Wing had contacted the company asking for help. He said: “We are extremely grateful to Dulux Decorator Centres for the generous paint donation, which has given the club a new lease of life. The league we compete in sets specific requirements for the club facilities and we’re so glad to be up to standard now.
“With it being such a great year for sport, we hope the transformation will encourage more people in the area to join in and get active.”
