PEOPLE interested in becoming a special constable have one last opportunity to visit an event to learn about what the role involves.

The information session for North Yorkshire Police special constables will be held at police headquarters, at Newby Wiske, near Northallerton, between 6pm and 9pm tomorrow. Attendees will have the chance to meet with existing special constables, the special constabulary liaison officer and the safer neighbourhood commander, as well as members of the force’s HR and training departments.

Chief Inspector Richard Anderson, who is leading the recruitment process, said: “I am pleased with the numbers of people attending the first three events which have taken place in Harrogate, York and Scarborough. "They have proven to be popular, with a wide range of people from varying backgrounds attending.

"I encourage anyone interested in joining the special constabulary to come along. It will be great to see you there." To reserve a place at the event, register your details and preferred time at www.northyorkshire.police.uk/specials or just drop in on the night.
