AN artist has brought his folk-inspired exhibition, White Horses and Unquiet Graves, to North Yorkshire.

Ripon is currently hosting Jonny Hannah’s solo debut exhibition in the north of England.

His exhibition of paintings, linocuts, screen prints, cut outs and other assorted emphemera have been inspired by folk and jazz music and will be on show at Hornseys in Kirkgate, until July 18.

The work is also inspired by historical characters and symbols such as Ripon’s celebrated cellarman Tom Crudd, the White Horse of Kilburn, the love heart and English oak leaf.

Many pieces of original artwork will be on sale for under £50, in keeping with the artist’s ethos on the affordibility of folk art.

Jonny Hannah, originally from Dunfermline, has worked as an illustrator for publications including the New York Times, The Sunday Telegraph and The Guardian and has held exhibitions in Edinburgh and London.
