VOLUNTEERS have helped to maintain a hedge on a popular recreational area as part of an on-going project to improve the area.
Members of the Thirsk Community Woodlands group headed to Carrs Field, Thirsk, to work on a hedge there.
The team were helping to maintain the hedge which lies adjacent to the Cod Beck near to the iron bridge on the outskirts of Thirsk.
The group laid the overgrown hedge last autumn to create a low stock proof hedge which in turn improved sight lines onto the play areas.
Led by Mike I’Anson the volunteers cut back and wove in the new growth to strengthen the hedge structure.
A Thirsk Community Woodlands spokesman said: "The woodland group volunteers have for many years been actively involved with the planning and management of tree planting on the Carrs Field.
"The plan of work includes the planting of native English bluebells in the wooded walk way areas next autumn and the planting of basket making quality willow."
