PEOPLE are being invited to have their say about major long-term plans for the north of Northallerton.

A three-week consultation exercise begins next month when an open day will be followed by a special meeting of the Northallerton Area Forum.

The Northallerton North Development Area features in Hambleton District Council’s Local Development Framework - planning blueprint - which is due to be formally adopted by councillors in December.

It includes plans for housing, recreation and a new link road in the Brompton area of Northallerton.

Support of £82,000 has already been secured from the Government to engage consultants Taylor Young who will provide expert support to aid "masterplanning" of the scheme.

Local people can add their views on the emerging plans during the consultation period which starts with a drop-in event on November 22 at the Hambleton Forum from 2pm to 6.30pm.

That will be followed at 7pm by a meeting of the Northallerton Area Forum which gives local councillors the opportunity to add their say.

Information on the scheme will also be available to check out at hambleton.gov.uk from November 22. Comments can be left until December 10.
