OUTDOOR enthusiasts who book tickets on heritage railway’s first train of the weekend can take part in a tour of tulip gardens with a garden specialist.

Phil Robinson will conduct the tour, exclusively for Wensleydale Railway passengers, at Constable Burton Hall, near Finghall, on Saturday.

The train leaves Leeming Bar at 9.50am, calling at Bedale at 9.59am.

Guests should bring a packed lunch and drinks.

A railway spokeswoman said: "This visit was suggested by one of our experienced walk leaders.

"We are especially pleased to be adding a springtime walk from Finghall to our programme.

"The leader will meet the train at Finghall station for a guided walk of six miles, including the hall’s extensive gardens."

Passengers wanting to take part in Saturday’s walk, which costs £15 including return train fare from Leeming Bar to Finghall, guided walk and gardens tour, should call 08454-505-474.

Wensleydale Railway’s next guided walk is a wildflower walk, from Redmire to Leyburn, on Sunday, May 23. Details of these walks and other events can be found at wensleydalerailway.com
