A GROUP of young farmers are giving up their Sunday to shovel manure in a bid to raise funds for their group.

The Catterick Young Farmers are running a charity muck chuck that will see them travel through villages around Richmondshire on Sunday with a trailer full of manure.

At each stop residents will be able to come and meet the team and take home a wheelbarrow or sack of manure for a minimum donation of £2.

Funds raised will go towards the running of Catterick Young Farmers and to the Swaledale Mountain Rescue team.

Although the team do not plan to knock on doors, anyone who would like some manure for their garden, but cannot get it back to their house can call organiser Laura Stephenson in advance to arrange a delivery.

The trailer will stop at Ravensworth village hall at 10am, Whaston village green at 11am, Kirby Hill village green at noon, Gayles bus stop, at the Low Fields entrance, at 1pm, Dalton village hall at 2pm, Newsham village hall at 3pm and Gilling West village shop at 4pm.

To arrange a delivery call Laura on 07891774651.
