THE Yorkshire Air Ambulance has been chosen as Ripon Cathedral’s charity partner for its new ‘Wing and a Prayer’ project.
Ripon Cathedral is asking people to donate ‘an angel’ to be placed inside the cathedral in honour of key workers and those who are sacrificing so much to keep the country safe.
An online form allows people to request a prayer, which will then be printed and displayed alongside the angels.
The angels will then become part of an inspiring art installation in the nave of the cathedral and the clergy will then offer these prayers during services.
The project has already raised more than £1,000 for the life-saving charity, in a just one week.
Margaret Hammond, development manager at Ripon Cathedral, said “We are delighted that the Yorkshire Air Ambulance have agreed to partner Ripon Cathedral to offer a way for people to pray for their heroes or remember loved ones.
"We are delighted that in such a short period of time, over £1,000 has already been raised.
"It just goes to show how caring everyone is at this uncertain time.
"Our aim is to fill the cathedral with angels as a sign of hope for the future.
Helen Callear, director of fundraising (North and East) for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the charity partner for the ‘A Wing and a Prayer Project’ at Ripon Cathedral.
