A TORTOISE is slowly but surely raising money for a therapeutic centre by showing off his modelling skills.

Thomas is a resident pet of Holy Rood House, a charity running a therapeutic retreat in Thirsk.

Although the centre cannot accept guests at the moment, there are four people living at the retreat during lockdown.

One of them, Helen Warwick, came up with the idea of Thomas joining the 2.6 charity challenge and is taking 26 photos of him linked to a Just Giving page in the hope of raising £2,600.

The Northern Echo:

The money will go towards the gardens, domestic animals and wildlife that are such an important part of Holy Rood House.

Ms Warwick said: "We wanted to try and find a way that might raise a little bit of money but also make people smile and be something that the children like.

"I've been sharing facebook posts at the moment and they are proving to be popular with people, connecting to well-being and the seasons and our garden."
