A YOUNG racing driver is rejoining a top team to battle for honours in this season’s JCW Mini Challenge.

Ethan Hammerton, 19, has signed up with Team Hard in partnership with JamSport Racing for the Mini Cooper racing series which will feature live on ITV4.

Northallerton-based Ethan became the third youngest ever British Touring Car driver when he entered the British Touring Car Championships (BTCC) at just 17.

This came in 2018 after he won a scholarship after beating off stiff competition from 100 other drivers to land a fully-funded drive in the VW Cup Championship.

Ethan said: "I am really looking forward to the Mini Challenge as the cars are the nearest thing I have driven to a Touring Car.

"I know this year is going to be tough, as it is going to take time to get used to the differences to the Renault Clio, but I am looking forward to working with Ant Whorton-Eales again who helped me secure second in the UK Renault Clio Junior Championship." JamSport won the Championship in 2018.
