JEWELLERY of sentimental value was stolen during a house break-in.
Overnight on Saturday, into Sunday morning, there was a burglary and an attempted burglary at homes in Fitzalan Road and Mowbray Crescent, in Bedale.
The rear gardens of the two propertise back on to each other.
Police said the culprit gained entry to one property by smashing the rear door glass panel then using the key to open the door.
A full list of the items stolen is not available yet but it is believed to include a number of items of jewellery including pieces of sentimental value.
Officers have urged people to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity or vehicles to North Yorkshire Police as soon as possible.
Anyone who lives in the area and has CCTV is urged to check the footage for evidence that could help with the investigation.
