WALLERS will be working in Bellerby this weekend to repair damage done by the July flash floods.
Members of the Dry Stone Walling Association (DSWA) have volunteered to help in the village this weekend.
The event has been coordinated by Bellerby DSWA member Robin Turton.
He said: “The floods of July 30 caused some significant damage to homes in the village of Bellerby and also to many dry stone walls, some of which aren’t covered by home insurance policies.
“As a member of the DSWA I wanted to ensure that the dry stone walls were rebuilt as soon as possible. As well as the practical benefits these boundary walls play in the village the rebuilding would also provide a positive impact to residents.
“A few days after the flood I contacted the local DSWA branch to hopefully gain support to help rebuild the village walls.
Free accommodation is being provided by residents with food provided at the Cross Keys pub, funded by the Bellerby Open Gardens and Events Group.
