SCHOOLCHILDREN in Stokesley have helped design an interactive trail to highlight their town's hidden treasures.

The trail will take people around the market place to help them discover not just well-known landmarks and local businesses, but also the town’s hidden stories and points of interest.

Students from Stokesley School have worked on the project and Hambleton District Council has supported it through its Vibrant Market Towns programme.

The idea came about when year seven and eight pupils undertook a ‘My Place’ project where they compared a rural location like Stokesley with their more urban neighbour, Middlesbrough.

They looked at the different challenges the areas face and how to manage them.

One of those issues was about learning more about the local area – for visitors and local people – and so the idea of the trail was born.

It will be available at businesses and community venues in Stokesley in the coming weeks with answers to the questions it raises found on the Town Council noticeboard at the Town Hall.
