A VILLAGE is gearing up for a spooky celebration hosted by its very own 'Halloween Queen'.

Carer Janie Molyneaux, known as East Witton’s 'Halloween Queen' will be hosting a ‘Spooktacular Fun Day’ to raise money for the local branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

The fun-filled event, on Saturday, October 26, boasts an array of activities and attractions including a display of ex-military vehicles, ‘It’s a knockout' assault courses and a ‘Zombie Fun Run’ where runners are encouraged to dress the part. There will also be a DJ, cake sale, tombola and a duck race with a difference.

Organiser Ms Molyneaux said: “I am known as the Halloween Queen in East Witton because my Halloween decorations get bigger and bigger each year.

"My father was in the marines, so I’ve always known about SSAFA. They don’t get much recognition for the incredible work they do so I wanted to say thank you and give it my all for this amazing charity."

Stephen King of SSAFA, said: “We are so grateful for all Janie’s hard work organising this brilliant fundraiser in aid of SSAFA. The event runs from 11am to 3pm at East Witton Village Green.
