A NORTH Yorkshire location has been selected for seven rounds of pudding in a pudding club's first UK tour.

Allerton Court Hotel in Northallerton is one of six locations across the country that has been chosen by the Great British pudding preservation club, The Pudding Club.

Throughout October and November, the club will visit sites in Halifax, Durham, Wetherby, Bury St Edmunds and Chester.

On October 18 in Northallerton, participants will be treated to Sticky Toffee and Date Pudding, Syrup Sponge, Spotted Dick, Very Chocolate, Apple Crumble, Marmalade Bread and Butter Pudding and Lemon Meringue Pie.

Emma Gibson of The Pudding Club said: "Our heartfelt mission since The Pudding Club started has been to preserve the Great British Pudding, and whilst we think we have succeeded in this tradition, we want to expand its reach across the UK.

"Back in the 1980s, if you were to go to a hotel or restaurant the dessert trolley would contain the likes of cheesecake and crème caramel – and supermarkets would offer desserts in tin and your angel delight. We wanted to maintain the tradition pudding, and over the years more and more people have wanted to come along."
