OVERNIGHT closures will be in place this weekend to enable the resurfacing of a main road through Northallerton.

A section of the A167 Boroughbridge Road between the bus stop and just south of the junction with the Co-op shop will be resurfaced and relined.

The work takes place between 6pm and midnight on Saturday, June 22 and from 5pm until midnight on Sunday, June 23.

On Saturday, access to the Co-op will be available from the A684 roundabout until 10pm.

The following night, access to the store will be maintained via stop and go boards until 9pm.

Other than access to the store, vehicle access will not be possible through the affected section of road.

Residents are asked to store any vehicles which are parked on the road at an alternative location and ensure vehicles are moved from the highway before 4pm on both days.

There will still be pedestrian access whilst the work is ongoing.

North Yorkshire County Councillor Don Mackenzie, executive member for highways, said: “We would like to apologise for any disruption this may cause to residents or motorists and ask for their co-operation whilst this work is ongoing.

“We will be working hard to minimise disruption and noise for adjacent properties whilst the work is ongoing.

“The result will be a much improved road surface.”
