SIX community-led projects – ranging from theatre to buses to toilets – have been realised with support from the National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund (SDF).
Richmondshire Youth Theatre staged two performances of ‘Last Dance of a Dalesman’ by Nobby Dimon this spring, and created a sound bank of local stories, with the help of a £4,674 grant.
Dalesbus’ ‘World of James Herriot’ service will be serving Swaledale and Wensleydale every Sunday this summer, with £950 worth of support coming from the SDF to pay for promotional materials.
Meanwhile, a £2,193 grant helped Askrigg Parish Council convert three toilets into one accessible unisex public toilet in the Temperance Village Hall, while a £1,997 SDF grant supported the Yorebridge Sports and Development Association.
A new interpretation panel about the lead mining industry has been installed at Hall Green in Arkengarthdale, paid for in part with a £771 SDF grant, and Hudswell Community Pub received £825 towards beehives and bee keeping kit.
