A TEAM of schoolchildren from the county have made it to the national finals of a General Knowledge quiz in London.

A team of youngsters from the Stokesley Primary Academy school, took part in the semi-finals of the quiz earlier this year.

After beating off their opponents, the school's quiz team which is made up of Year 3's, Year 4's, Year 5's and Year 6's, managed to get through to the finals, which will be held in summer.

Rachel Holden, a teacher at the school, said: "It is a very professional run event, very much like a quiz show on television.

"The General Knowledge quiz is a national competition which we have been entering for many years.

"Although nerve-wracking for both team members and parents – it is an amazing opportunity for the children to be part of."

The finals will be held at The National Gallery on June, 27.

Ms Holden said previous finals have been attended by the school.

Previous venues include London's The Maritime Museum, Oxford Town Hall and The Tower of London.
