ONE of the UK’s leading touring ballet companies is offering an exclusive insight into what it is like to prepare for one of their shows.

An Audience with Vienna Festival Ballet will take place on stage at The Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond for one night only on Monday, April 1at 7.00pm.

The audience will be able to witness how dancers build themselves up for performance, watch part of a rehearsal and have the chance to ask questions.

The evening will also include short excerpts from the popular ballet Coppelia.

“This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has ever dreamt of being a ballet dancer or for those who are just intrigued to know what goes on behind the scenes,” said Clare Allen, chief executive at the Georgian Theatre Royal.

She added: “This dynamic company have been to the Georgian Theatre on several occasions and they always delight with their vitality, energy and exuberance.

"It will be fascinating to see exactly how they manage to stage such dazzling productions."

Founded by Austrian dancer Peter Mallek more than 35 years ago, the Vienna Festival Ballet has grown and prospered over the decades. It engages dancers from all over the world and tours widely throughout Europe.

Last year, the company played to a packed Richmond audience with their colourful, yet faithful-to-tradition interpretation of The Sleeping Beauty.
