A MOTHER of three who developed an innovative baby product six-months ago has struck gold in an annual awards which recognises industry-leading baby products.
Harriet Westcott, of Catterick Garrison, developed a multi-use baby cover out of what she called was "years of frustration" at a lack of multi-use products for parents.
Mrs Westcott, who is also a military wife, won recognition in the 2019 Made for Mums awards for her 'Cover Me Baby' product earlier this month.
Mrs Westcott said: "With three children I know only too well the daily struggle of carrying multiple bags full of things that myself and my husband need for the children.
"I was desperate to find a way to reduce the amount we carry and saw a real need for one product that could perform multiple roles saving space and making all of our lives that little bit easier."
Her cover can be used on highchairs, car seats, pushchairs, shopping trollies and aids mothers in breastfeeding discreetly.
She said: "I never thought I would be running my own business as a mum of three, but the passion I have for this product and the difference I believe it can make has given me such determination and drive.
"I genuinely believe that Cover Me can make such a difference to parents lives, and I hope will make those always bursting baby bags just that little bit lighter."
Mrs Westcott, who developed her business from home towards the end of 2018, also pledged to manufacture her products, using family-run businesses across Yorkshire.
She added: "The recognition by Made for Mums is the absolute icing on the cake of an incredible few months since starting the business.
"Creating a product that truly works for parents was my main ambition."
