A MUSEUM dedicated to a famous vet has reached the finals of two different awards.
The World of James Herriot in Thirsk is a finalist of the British Coach Tourism ‘Best Groups Welcome Award,’ and the Federation of Small Business Yorkshire and Humber Awards.
James Herriot, also known as Alfred White - his real name, was behind the TV series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ and had his former veterinary practice turned into a museum after he died in 1995.
The museum has been recognised for its ‘positive welcome,’ visitor numbers and the overall contribution to the town’s economy.
The museum’s managing director Ian Ashton said: “This is a great start to 2019 for us and to know that the people who visit the World of James Herriot have recognised and appreciate the experience what the team here deliver.”
