TODDLERS proved that age is no barrier when they connected with care home residents in Northallerton.
Elderly residents at Mount Vale care home have recently been involved in intergenerational work with their local playgroup.
The home has been welcoming a group of pre-school toddlers from Rosedene Nursery School on a weekly basis, to spend time reading books together.
The children have been regular visitors to Mount Vale, getting involved in some of the residents' activities and enjoying the grounds for picnics and woodland walks.
General manager, Helen Lewis of Mount Vale, said that the scheme is benefitting both its elderly and young participants.
She said: “Residents have really enjoyed reading stories to the children and it brought smiles to the faces of the young and old.”
Mount Vale care home is run by Barchester Healthcare and provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 62 residents from respite care to long term stays.
Rosedene is part of a chain first established in Marske in the 1950s.
